Chidi Mokeme, a filmmaker and popular Nollywood actor has come out to gives reasons why he took a break from the movie industry.
He made a great comeback recently in the just released Netflix series, Shanty Town. He also revealed he was struggling and suffering Bell’s palsy, this alone made him stay clear from acting in any movie scene. Channel TV hosted the Actor on the Rubbin Minds program. The actor said the ailment was more of stroke and he explained that it’s affected some part of TV his face. He also added that the doctor told him it was incurable, so he went through a lot trying to get back to his old self.
He said ; “I have been off the scene for a while after we did the promotional tour for 76. Before that when we were preparing to go to the UK on a trip for British international Film Festival, I came down with something called Bell’s Palsy. It comes like a stroke and affects the face. They didn’t know what caused it and how to treat it. As an actor, you can imagine what I was going “.
Bell’s palsy is a condition that causes sudden weakness in the muscles on one side of the face. In most cases, the weakness is temporary and significantly improves over weeks. The weakness makes half of the face appear to droop. Smiles are one-sided, and the eye on the affected side resists closing. This are the reasons he stated affected him from showing up in Nollywood movies.
